The everlasting statues of Colossi of Memnon were meant to stand at the grand entrance of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III when it was made in 1350 BC out of quartzite stone. The name “Memnon” is directly linked to the Greek name for the golden Theban Necropolis which is the Memnonium.

The legendary and divine Karnak Temples Complex is one of the biggest constructions projects ever built in the history of mankind which started in the reign of Senusret I (1971–1926 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom (2000–1700 BCE) and continued all the way to the end of Ptolemaic Kingdom (305–30 BCE) but most of the temples, pylons, chapels, and other buildings was made during the New Kingdom (1570 – 1050 BC). It was and became known as The Most Selected of Places that honored the Amun-Re, Mut, and Montu.
