The citadel was the witness to all the biggest events that took place in Ancient Egypt.

Mohamed Ali Mosque

A.K.A. "The Alabaster Mosque", it's a majestic work of art. It was constructed between 1830 and 1848 AD to be a replica of the blue mosque in Istanbul and act as a symbol of independence and freedom against the Ottoman Empire. Mohamed Ali Mosque is truly enchanting with its ottoman style architecture of French rococo influences with enchanting finishes of ornate red, green, gold, and a great dome.

The Hanging Church

The divine church of Mother of God Saint Virgin Mary "Hanging Church" has always stood ad a magical example of the grace of the Christian community of Cairo. The church was built in the 5th century AD on the southern roman gatehouses of Babylon fortress to become the staircase church that is highly risen from the ground by 30 ft.
