Western/Catholic Easter falls on April 5, 2026; Orthodox Easter on April 12, 2026. Spring is one of the best times to visit Egypt. April temperatures are warm but not extreme (24–32°C in Luxor and Aswan), the Nile is calm for cruising, and the sites are less crowded than during the peak winter season. It is an excellent window for a Nile cruise or multi-city Egypt holiday.
Yes. Egypt has one of the world’s oldest Christian communities Coptic Christians make up approximately 10% of the population. Easter is a major Coptic celebration, with special services held at the Hanging Church in Old Cairo, St. Mark’s Cathedral, and monasteries throughout Upper Egypt. Imperial Egypt can incorporate a Coptic Easter church visit into your Cairo itinerary on request.
Easter is a popular period for Egypt travel, particularly for European and US visitors. Nile cruise departures, Luxor hot air balloon rides, and Abu Simbel visits book up quickly in March and April. We recommend booking your Easter package at least 6–8 weeks in advance to secure your preferred cruise ship, dates, and hotel rooms during the holiday period.
Options range from a 4-day Nile cruise from Aswan ($410) ideal for those joining an Easter Red Sea holiday to a 10-day Cairo and Nile Cruise ($2,040) covering the Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan, and Abu Simbel. All packages are fully customisable to fit your exact Easter break dates and departure city.
In April, Cairo averages 28–32°C and is mostly sunny. Luxor and Aswan are warmer at 32–36°C but bone-dry, making the heat very manageable in the mornings and evenings. Temperatures cool to 18–22°C after dark throughout the Nile Valley. Alexandria on the Mediterranean is milder at 20–24°C. Light breathable cotton clothing is recommended throughout; rain is exceptionally rare across all destinations in April.
